What is a Subsidized Study Abroad Program?

In 1981, Hanyang University became the first university in Korea to offer a subsidized study aboard program. The program provides scholarships to Hanyang University graduates who wish to study abroad for their master's or doctoral programs. It produces a large number of talented professionals each year and plays a key role in various aspects of society. The university is always on the lookout for interested graduates. Specific application windows and detailed selection requirements may be slightly modified each year, so please be sure to check the recruitment notice before applying (read online notices).

Application period: April-May, annually

Quota: 10+ students

Benefits and Obligations for Study Abroad Students

One-way airfare to the study abroad destination (reimbursement up to KRW 1.1 million)

Approx. USD 5,400 paid each semester for up to 2 years (4 semesters) depending on the scholarship period

* Depending on the selection results, the university may award a 1-year or 2-year scholarship

Students must submit their academic transcript at the end of each semester and proof of enrollment for the next semester (if not submitted, no scholarship will be awarded for that semester)

Scholarship students must attend a luncheon prior to departure
