Application Requirements Undergraduate Students

  • Applicants must be enrolled at the ERICA Campus or on a leave of absence with no disqualifications for studying abroad.

  • Applicants must have completed between 2 to 7 semesters at the time of application (students who have completed 7 semesters must take a leave of absence during the semester immediately preceding the exchange).

    For students enrolled in the optional 4+1 year long-term field training program, the semester for long-term field training shall not included in the number of semesters completed.

  • For transfer students, applicants must have completed at least 1 semester at Hanyang University

  • Double majors and students in a combined bachelor's degree program cannot apply (those completing a multiple major or minor can apply).

  • Extra semester students and expected graduates cannot apply.

  • Applicants who have no prior exchange history through the exchange program or have previously participated in the program for one semester only.

  • Students cannot be sent to different universities in consecutive semesters (e.g., Germany in Spring 2024 and the U.S. in Fall 2024).

  • If a student participates in the exchange program during their final semester (8th semester), they can graduate without additional registration fees only if they complete the credit transfer process and meet all graduation requirements before the application period for degree deferment after returning.

  • If a student participates in a one-year exchange program during their 8th and 9th semesters, full tuition for the 9th semester must be paid.

Application Requirements for Graduate Students

  • Applicants must be enrolled at the ERICA Campus or on a leave of absence with no disqualifications for studying abroad.

  • Applicants must have acquired the approval of their academic supervisor

  • Applicants must have completed at least 1 semester at the time of their application.

  • Students studying abroad for their last semester can graduate without registering for an additional semester only if they complete the credit transfer process and meet all graduation requirements before graduation.

※ The above are foreign language scores Hanyang University requires for outbound students. If language proficiency requirements at the hosting school are higher, applicants must comply with those requirements.

Selection Method

Comprehensive Assessment of Applications 100%

(cumulative GPA + Language Proficiency + Study Abroad Plan)

※ Scores for each assessment category are aggregated and sorted in descending order. Students with the highest total score are given priority in being assigned to their desired hosting university.

Upon being selected as an exchange student at Hanyang University's Office of International Affairs, submit the Exchange Student Application and other required documents to the hosting school (stage 2)

Application documents: Application for Self-financed Study Abroad Program, Admissions letter from the foreign university, Academic transcript by semester, Supervisor recommendation letter
